Paraprofessional starting wage is based on the Classification of the current Paraprofessional Master Agreement - starting wage is $15/hour.
Required: Must be Highly Qualified as defined by Michigan Department of Education.
Assignment: PartTime
Paraprofessional will work with students receiving special education support in the Emotional Impairment (EI) Room. Using positive behavior supports to teach social skills is also a part of the position. The ability to provide positive guidance to students in a manner that communicates dignity and respect is critical. This job is not limited to any or all of the following skills, duties and responsibilities:
- Organization
- The ability to explain curriculum expectations following directive from teacher
- Ability to work professionally with staff, students, parents and other providers
- Dependable Attendance
- Basic understanding of technology
- Ability to assist with personal care needs
- Some lifting may be required
- CPR/First Aid training preferred
- CPI training preferred
- Experience and/or knowledge of behavioral management techniques
Applicant must have a high school diploma or equivalent and must provide evidence of being Highly Qualified in accordance with the No Child Left Behind Act. This can be achieved by submitting college transcripts or successfully completing the paraprofessional assessment.
